Fall is upon us with its crisp air, warm colors, and bushels of apples. This story time is all about getting excited for the delights of a new Fall season and it is one of my favorites from our Fall Story Time Pack.
This preschool story time also kicks off a new year of the Virtual Book Club for Kids. If you haven’t already, check out this awesome way to get your kids excited about books. It’s easy peasy – as my kids would say – and tons of fun.
Apple Farm Story Time
Note: Our story times always have the same parts; We start with a hello song. Next, I read 2-3 books about a topic with a rhyme/song and group activity that works on a developmental goal in between each book. We end with a goodbye song and then head to the table. At the table there is an invitation of some sort that works on another one of the developmental skills they are building. These elements are all listed below so you can move them around into whatever order works for you!

Books about Apples
Featured Book: 10 Red Apples by Pat Hutchins
This week’s Virtual Book Club for Kids book is a classic. It is also a fun book for working on counting with littles or subtraction with biggers.
More Apple Themed Books for Story Time:
Apple by Nikki McClure
The bold red, black, and white illustrations are what drew us to this simple book. McClure tells the story of apples from Fall to Spring in a simplistic and stunning way. Each page shares one word and a hand cut illustration. It is simple enough to read with babies and toddlers, but impressive enough for preschoolers. Check out the art project it inspired here.
The Apple Pie that Papa Baked by Lauren Thompson
Apple Pie is one of those hallmark experiences of Fall for me. This tale starts with the pie and goes backwards from apples all the way to the world that spins with the sun that all play a role in the apple pies that grace our tables. This is a fun read aloud full of repetition and action filled illustrations.
From Apple Trees to Cider, Please by Felicia Sanzari Chernesky
Ever wonder how apple cider gets made? This book walks you through the process from apple trees to cider. It is rhyming, colorful, and informative in the best possible way. Another great read aloud for apple picking season.
